Safety improvements never seem to be made until there is an accident.
Internal aircraft video surveillance is becoming commonplace, so why not extend the system to give the pilots external surveillance of airframe and engines? It could help in post-accident investigation.
There is now such a clear need for this that the press can reasonably question its absence when the next accident happens.
