HCL signs Spartan service deal
HCL Technologies has announced a contract with Alenia Aeronautica to provide engineering services for the C-27J Spartan production line, worth $15m. HCL will convert most of the existing structural design material of the C-27J programme into electronic format and migrate into a product lifecycle management system. It will also carry out engineering activities to support the improvements to the aircraft production line.
“This is a major development in the future design and manufacture of aircraft and signals a new era in the types of services we will be providing to the aerospace industry,” says Rajeev Sawhney, president Europe Operations, HCL.

Elbit’s two deals
Elbit Systems,  has been awarded two contracts worth a total of $14million to supply its aviator’s night vision imaging system and head-up displays (HUD) for helicopters to two NATO nations.
"The selection of our systems for this project attests to Elbit Systems’ leadership in helmet and HUD systems,” says Yoram Shmuely, corporate vice president and general manager of Elbit Systems airborne and helmet systems division.
The system helps raise situational awareness by allowing the pilot to fly head-out-of-the-cockpit during night operations by projecting critical flight information into the night vision goggles.
