The American Association of Airport Executives, representing 5,000 US airfields, has begun work on a federal assistance proposal and will issue security guidelines. The association has divided general aviation airports into four types, based on whether the runway is longer or shorter than 1,220m (4,000ft), and how remote from urban areas or military sites.
