Boeing's deliveries of large jet aircraft slipped to just 63 in the third quarter of 2019, down 67% year-over-year thanks largely to the grounding of the 737 Max, the company reports on 8 October.
In the first nine months of 2019, Boeing delivered 302 commercial aircraft, slightly more than half of the 568 aircraft it delivered in the same period last year.
The third quarter deliveries included five 737s – all of them P-8 military surveillance aircraft handed over to the US Navy and the UK and Australian governments. By comparison, in the third quarter of last year Boeing delivered 138 737s, company data shows.
The 2019 third quarter deliveries also included 35 787s, which went to customers including All Nippon Airways, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Etihad Airways, Eva Air, Singapore Airlines and Turkish Airlines.
Boeing handed over 12 777s in the three-month period, including nine 777 Freighters to FedEx Express, Qatar Airways, DHL and Turkish Airlines. Two passenger-configured 777-300ERs went to China Southern.
Boeing delivered 10 767s in the third quarter. Those aircraft included four 767-based KC-46A in-flight refuelling tankers to the US Air Force and six 767-300Fs to FedEx and UPS.
The company also delivered one 747-8F to UPS in the quarter, it reports.
