British Airways will transfer flights to St Petersburg and Pisa from London/Heathrow to Gatwick in March and introduce a four weekly Gatwick to Riga service, subject to government approval. The UK carrier is withdrawing its twice daily Heathrow-Turin service.

Japan Airlines will codeshare with Air France on the latter's daily Paris/CDG-Istanbul service from April, subject to government approval.

Continental Airlines is set to inaugurate daily services between New York/Newark and Birmingham, UK in July.

Lufthansa will introduce the first international air services to Kazan and Perm in the Russian Federation in March, with twice-weekly services from Frankfurt.

America West Airlines has initiated daily flights between Phoenix and Acapulco and Miami and Phoenix.

Delta Air Lines started codesharing services with Aeromexico from Cancun to Atlanta five times weekly and to Dallas-Fort Worth four times weekly in March.

The Irish high court has approved the restructuring plan of Irish regional CityJet and lifted bankruptcy protection. Malmö Aviation is to take a 42 per cent stake in the restructured airline, Yeoman International will take a 17 per cent holding and Standard Life Assurance a 16 per cent stake.
