British Airways is to fit out its entire shorthaul fleet with the Traffic Alert & Collision Avoidance System supplied by Honeywell Avionic Systems.

Lufthansa is launching a weekly, non-stop service from Frankfurt to Shanghai from July. It will start four flights a week from Munich to Pisa and six flights a week to Gothenburg. From Berlin it is starting six weekly connections to St Petersburg and Budapest and five weekly to Westerland in northern Germany.

Swissair will set up its IT services subsidiary Swissair Information Systems as a separate company and rename it Atraxis from April. From the end of March, the carrier will add Bremen, Friedrichshaven and Stuttgart to its network in cooperation with Deutsche BA and Riga and Vilnius through a codeshare with Austrian Airlines. Swissair is also adding Bamako, Mali to its weekly Dakar service, and has already started flights to Newark.

Austrian Airlines and All Nippon Airways were set to launch twice weekly joint services between Vienna and Osaka/Kansai from the end of March using an Austrian A340 pending government approval.

KLM is expected to start twice weekly Amsterdam-Beijing services pending the signing of a bilateral. KLM is to codeshare with Maersk Air on the thrice daily Amsterdam-Billund route.

Icelandair is to launch twice weekly flights between Reykjavik and Halifax from mid-May.

Emirates is to start twice weekly services from Dubai to Melbourne using a B777 at the end of June rising to three weekly frequencies in July.

South African Airways is extending its weekly Johannesburg-Kinshasa service to Accra, Ghana, in April.

Air Canada is starting twice daily flights between Toronto and Nashville from mid-April using a Canadair RJ.

America West Airlines has launched an Internet site on the World Wide Web and aims to offer direct booking by the end of 1996.

Air UK was set to launch three daily London/Stansted-Rotterdam services on weekdays from the end of March using a BAe146. It is also codesharing on CSA Czech Airlines' four weekly services from Stansted to Prague.

Jersey European Airways has launched a codeshare service with Air Inter Europe on Stansted-Marseille with a BAe146.

Manx Airlines has taken over the UK domestic operations of Knight Air under the British Airways Express franchise using two Jetstream 31s.
