Airlines operating from Sydney have set up a fighting fund in a bid to stop Sydney Airports Corporation (SACL) imposing a 130% increase in aeronautical charges. Airlines are worried that if Sydney, the one remaining government-owned airport, succeeds with its proposed increase, other privately run airports will soon follow suit. The fighting fund is being collected through a levy.
