Channel Islands-based regional carrier Aurigny is withdrawing its sole Embraer 195 from its fleet, and selling it to a US lessor.

Aurigny has been operating the E195 – the only jet in its fleet – for 10 years, on routes to destinations in Europe.

But it had indicated towards the end of last year that it was looking to replace the aircraft with additional turboprops. It has five ATR and Dornier models.

US lessor Azorra states that it is purchasing the E195 from the Guernsey airline, to support fleet transformation.

Guernsey-based Aurigny has been flying the E195 for a decade

While Aurigny chief Nico Bezuidenhout says the twinjet is a “very good aircraft”, he adds: “Fleet simplification is…a key ingredient to improving the sustainability and resilience of Guernsey’s air connectivity.”

This consideration, he says, has led to the decision to “exit the Embraer from Aurigny’s fleet”.

Azorra says the E195 remains in “high demand” and that Aurigny’s withdrawal of the type is “complementary” to the lessor’s aim to support its Embraer-operating customers.
