Wet-lease specialist Avia Solutions Group is aiming to establish another regional division of carrier Avion Express, which will be located in the Philippines.
It is setting up the operator to meet seasonal aircraft capacity requirements of carriers in the Asia-Pacific state.
While the Philippines is experiencing strong post-pandemic recovery, says Avia Solutions Group, this has brought “significant challenges” as a result of supply-chain bottlenecks.
It says Avion Express Philippines, based in Manila, is working on the “final regulatory requirements” for its air operator’s certificate and related licences.
“We believe that this service will empower airlines to optimise operations, explore new routes, and ultimately provide better travel experiences for passengers,” says Avion Express Philippines chief Rene Banzon.
He says the carrier intends to launch operations this year. Avion Express Philippines plans to offer a fleet of Airbus A320 jets.
Avia Solutions Group already has a presence in the Asia-Pacific region with carriers including BBN Airlines Indonesia and Thai SmartLynx, and it is developing a Malaysian sister operation to its UK-based Ascend Airways.
