Vietnam’s Bamboo Airways has commenced services with a pair of leased Embraer E195 regional jets, operating the resort island of Con Dao.
The two aircraft are wet leased from Denmark’s Great Dane Airlines, says Embraer. It adds that this marks the service debut for the type in Vietnam.
“Congratulations to Bamboo Airways on this strategic move,” says Raul Villaron, vice President Asia-Pacific for Embraer’s commercial aviation unit.
“The E-Jets will give them great flexibility both in performance as well as in economics. The E195’s fuel efficiency and economics enables Bamboo Airways to cost effectively manage fluctuating demand and operate lower density routes with the right sized aircraft. We welcome Bamboo Airways to the Embraer family and our global team are here to support them.”
Bamboo will operate E195 to Con Dao from the northern cities of Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Vinh.
Dang Tat Thang, executive vice chair of Bamboo Airways, says the aircraft’s short-field performance makes it “the ideal aircraft” for serving Con Dao.
Cirium fleets data shows that the E195 bear the registrations OY-GDB (MSN 19000184) and OY-GDC (MSN 19000204). Both were delivered new in 2008.
