IndiGo has officially unveiled its new business-class product, picking Recaro as its supplier for the new seats that will be found on new Airbus A321neos.
In announcements made in conjunction with its 18th anniversary, the low-cost giant said the first aircraft with the business class product – known as IndiGo Stretch – will be delivered in the fourth quarter of the year, with deliveries running through end-2025.
The new A321neos will feature 12 Recaro R5 business class seats, as well as 208 Recaro R2 seats in economy. The ‘IndiGo Stretch’ seats feature 38-inch seat pitch and is configured in a 2-2 layout.
IndiGo has ordered 45 shipsets – comprising business- and economy-class seats – from Recaro. The first aircraft will enter service some time in November on the Delhi-Mumbai route, and will be rolled out on 11 other trunk domestic routes by the end of 2025.
The airline previously said it would only market business class products on “metro” routes between some of India’s largest cities. It first disclosed plans for a business-class product in May this year, weeks after announcing an order for A350s.
