Libyan carrier Berniq Aviation has signed an agreement covering the purchase of six Airbus A320neo and A321neo twinjets.
Privately-owned Berniq initially emerged in 2018, and commenced operations in 2021.
It says it signed the purchase agreement for the new aircraft on 16 May.
Berniq has not identified an engine selection – its current A320 fleet is fitted with CFM International CFM56 powerplants – or given a delivery date.
“This agreement will be followed by several others in various areas, the most important of which are training, maintenance and safety,” it states.
Berniq says it is one of the fastest-growing Libyan carriers, operating from Benghazi and Tripoli to several domestic destinations as well as international routes to cities in northern Africa and the Middle East.
