Australia's commission reviewing airport aeronautical fees is recommending that the government keeps its present system for at least five more years. In a draft decision that the government is likely to accept, the productivity commission finds "no evidence of systematic misuse of market power" by Australia's top six airports. Instead, it concludes that "light-handed" regulation, which is little more than an annual charges review, has encouraged substantial airport investment. Qantas and Virgin Blue criticised this decision.
