Hong Kong Airport Authority has unveiled a plan for developing the region's Chek Lap Kok airport, which envisages the main terminal handling 61 million passengers a year by 2020 compared with 33 million last year. A new satellite terminal will increase annual throughput to 87 million. The Egyptian Government has given approval for a development project at Cairo airport involving the construction of a new runway and the expansion of the main airport services building. The project was chosen in preference to a new airport west of the Egyptian capital. Consultants will be appointed to draw up initial plans for the expansion programme. Developments schemes are already under way at Sharm al-Shaikh and Luxor airports. Belgium's regional Flemish Government has chosen the Brussels International Airport Company, which operates Brussels Zaventem, to manage Ostend airport, while the management of Antwerp Deurne airport has been contracted to Ernst & Young Temporary Management. Airplan, the Australian airport and aviation consultancy, has been commissioned by the Calgary International Airport in Canada to prepare a long-term development plan for all its facilities.
