Four former military airbases in the USA, have been enrolled in a federal grants programme, designed to convert former military airfields into civil airports. Funding of $26 million has been put up in fiscal year 1996 for the Military Airport Programme. The plan includes disused airfields at Williams AFB, Bergstrom AFB and Homestead AFB, as well as Millington Municipal Airport.
