-Brussels' South Charleroi Airport opened its new terminal on 10 October. A decision to extend the runway to 3,000m (10,000ft) is expected next month.

-Ownership of Brussels Airport changed on 1 October. The joint venture between private enterprise Brussels Airport Terminal Company, which ran the landside operation, and the government's Régie des Voies Aériennes, which ran the airside, has been replaced by the Brussels Airport International Company in which the government has a 63.5% interest.

-Italy's Bologna Airport will become the 12th in the country to be subject to air traffic control slot coordination during the coming winter season. Assoclearance, the national slot co-ordination body, says the move is necessary because of heavy charter traffic on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
