Aeroflot may alone fund construction of its new terminal at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport after failing to reach agreement with the airport administration. The Russian flag carrier offered the airport a 30% share in the managing company for the $300 million project, with Aeroflot to hold up to 43%, and the rest for an international investor. The tender for construction of the 12 million passenger capacity terminal will be announced in the third quarter, with work scheduled from 2001 to 2003. London Stansted Airport has kept its lead as Europe's fastest growing airport with a 26% rise in passenger traffic in May, handling 958,600 passengers, says operator BAA. BAA's seven UK airports expect a 5% traffic rise this year.
