Belfast Airport is to be acquired by property group TBI for ú72.4 million ($112 million) plus repayment of ú28 million of debt. TBI bought Cardiff Airport last year.
British Airways is to transfer 13 weekly flights to Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela and three B747-400s from London/Heathrow to London/Gatwick next spring.
Milan Airport and Technital have won an EU Phare tender to study civil aviation technical assistance in Romania.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority says increases in airline charges at London/Heathrow and London/Gatwick should be capped at the retail price index minus 3 per cent between 1997 and 2002, with a cap of RPI+1 per cent for Stansted. If intra-EU duty-free sales are banned, the CAA proposes a 15 per cent increase in charges over two years to compensate.
