In an expected move, Air China has selected the International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500 to power eight Airbus A319 twinjets it is ordering. The aircraft replace the airline's earlier commitment for eight Pratt & Whitney PW6000-powered A318s, which was dropped after the engine manufacturer met problems meeting performance guarantees. P&W is a shareholder in IAE, alongside Japanese Aero Engines, MTU Aero Engines and Rolls-Royce. IAE says the contract is worth over $100 million.
