AirTran Airways has added its first US West Coast destination - Los Angeles - from its Atlanta hub using two Airbus A320s. The low-fares carrier has added the ex-Middle East Airlines aircraft on wet-lease from Ryan International Airlines for the Los Angeles flights, and for its new Las Vegas service, because its Boeing 717s lack sufficient range. Ryan has taken the two aircraft on one-year leases from International Lease Finance.
