AirTran Airlines is to shift its corporate headquarters from Atlanta, Georgia, to Orlando, Florida, early in 1998, while maintaining other airline operations at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport. The move is subject to completion of the pending merger between ValuJet Airlines and AirTran Airways, expected by the end of this month, and final agreement on financial incentives from Florida. A decision on whether to establish a heavy-maintenance base in Orlando has yet to be made. Joseph Corr, AirTran's president and chief executive, has also hinted about new destinations, including Miami International and the Caribbean.
