For Skycast Solutions, online entertainment has been an exercise in downsizing – and that’s led to big news at AIX, in the form of a deal with Canadian low-cost carrier WestJet to trial its latest personal gadget holder.
Back at the beginning of the decade, Skycast devised TrayVu Slim – a portable device mounting an 8.9in Samsung Galaxy tablet to a seatback. By 2014, WestJet was using the smaller TrayVu7, featuring a 7in Galaxy tablet, as an IFE solution on board some of its Boeing 737-800s.
After that came the compact TabCaddy, a seatback device to hold tablets and smartphones of all sizes. And now, at AIX, the company is launching TabCaddy Clip, a low-cost tablet holder designed to attach securely to the airline meal tray.
Skycast chief executive Bill Boyer says WestJet will fit the removable holder inside five of its 737s this summer: “We are thrilled to trial the TabCaddy Clip with WestJet.”
