Factory Alenia and Vought Aircraft Industries have broken ground on their Global Aeronautica joint venture in Charleston, South Carolina, where fuselage sections for the Boeing 787 will be joined before being flown to the final assembly line in Everett, Washington, beginning 2007. The venture will join aft fuselage sections manufactured at an adjacent Vought plant and centre fuselage sections produced by Alenia Aeronautica in Italy. Boeing will attach the Wichita, Kansas-built forward fuselage at Everett.
