When a Flight Daily News journalist spotted ex-Grand Prix driver Jean Alesi on the Piaggio stand he wondered whether he had stumbled on a major story and that the French/Sicilian driver was going to “do a Niki Lauda” and launch his own business airline.
But Alesi put paid to the story by explaining that he was there for three reasons. “Firstly because of Piaggio’s links with my ex-team Ferrari; secondly because I live in Geneva; and lastly because I love aircraft.”
Oh well. Although we won’t be seeing Alesi Air taking the skies, it was still a pleasure to see the motor racing crowd favourite visiting the show.
