American Airlines has rolled out the Samsung Galaxy tablet as the new personal entertainment device for premium passengers on certain flights from today.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 device replaces the current devices in the airline's first and business class cabins on Boeing 767-200 and 767-300 transcontinental flights between New York John F. Kennedy and Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, Miami and San Francisco and Miami and Los Angeles.
It is also being offered on Boeing 757 transcontinental flights between Boston and Los Angeles, and international flights to and from Europe and South America operated with 767-300 aircraft.
The device, which has a 10.1 inch screen, will offer movies, television programmes and audio selections.
"Additional tablet functionality and content will be rolled out over time, beginning in first quarter 2012, and will include Wi-Fi capability on equipped aircraft, games, eReader publications, and more," said American.
