SkyWest bags Comair jets
Delta Air Lines stripped its Comair subsidiary of some 70-seat regional jet flying at Cincinnati and assigned it instead to SkyWest Airlines. Already a Delta Connection carrier, SkyWest will take over the additional 11 aircraft in February. Comair, meanwhile, faces a strike threat by its pilots union, which has had yet to agree on concessions despite bankruptcy court pressure.
Spirit expands south
Spirit Airlines is to launch flights from Fort Lauderdale to Caracas in Venezuela and Port au Prince in Haiti. It also plans to return to the Turks and Caicos Islands as part of an increasing focus on Latin America and the Caribbean.
