Ukraine's Odessa Airlines introduced the first series production Antonov An-140 into revenue service on 29 March, operating from Odessa to Kiev.

The airline is believed to hold orders for five of the 48- to 52-seaters with the Kharkov Aircraft Production Organisation (KhAPO) via the new Ukrtranslizing state leasing company.

The turboprop received Russian certification in May 2000. KhAPO says it holds eight firm orders and "many options" for the aircraft, while Motor-Sich, which produces the An-140's TV3-117VMA engines, says it holds 18 firm orders.
