Air mobility The recently repaired Antonov An-70 prototype has started air dropping tests at the Russian air force's GLITS flight test centre at Akhtyubinsk, southern Russia. The aircraft was ferried to Akhtyubinsk for evaluation before commencing the tests, which have so far included parachutists and armoured vehicles, earlier this month. Results of the tender for the air force's military transport aviation division's new transport aircraft will be announced next month and the An-70 is the leading candidate. The air force has also announced it is looking for a new long-range, high-speed airlifter able to carry a 6.5t payload.
