US Airways aims to bolster its presence in Asia though its latest codeshare partner, Japanese operator All Nippon Airways (ANA).

The Star alliance members will begin codesharing effective 16 September, pending regulatory approval in both countries.

Per the pact, ANA will place its code on US Airways flights between Washington Dulles International airport and Charlotte, and from Chicago O'Hare International airport to Charlotte and Philadelphia. The Japanese operator's code will also appear on US Airways' San Francisco operations to Las Vegas and Phoenix, as well as US Airways' Los Angeles links to Las Vegas and Phoenix.

In addition, US Airways will place its code on ANA flights between Tokyo's Narita International airport and Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington Dulles International and New York JFK airports.

The arrangement is the latest for Tempe, Arizona-based US Airways, which earlier this year inked a codeshare with Middle Eastern airline Qatar Airways. Its existing Asian codeshare partners include Singapore Airlines, Air China and South Korea's Asiana Airlines.

ANA has also reached a slew of codeshare deals this year, including pacts with Japanese domestic carrier Oriental Air Bridge, UK operator Virgin Atlantic Airways and China's Shenzhen Airlines. Its existing US codeshare partner is United Airlines.
