Commercial aircraft net orders came in at 261 for February 2013 with another 35 swaps.
In the highlight of the month, American Airlines ordered 100 Boeing 737 Max aircraft, 42 787s plus a single 777. Ilyushin Finance Company placed an order for 32 Bombardier Cseries, the first order of the year for the new narrowbody. Air Lease Corporation also placed multiple orders with 25 A350s, 14 A321 neo aircraft, ten 777s and five 737 Max aircraft.
Boeing’s new orders totalled 179, Airbus received 41, while Bombardier, Viking Air and AVIC totalled 32, six and three orders respectively.
In the narrowbody market, 126 737s were ordered, of which 121 were for the re-engined Max. A total of 32 CSeries and 14 A321 neo aircraft orders were placed. The widebody orders of the month were for 42 787s, 25 A350s, 11 777s and two A330s. In the regional market, the orders were for six DHC-6 Twin Otters and three MA60s.
Overall, the commercial aircraft order backlog ended February at 11,132, up 88 on the previous month.
