The first Antonov An-148-100 prototype was positioned from the test centre in Kiev to Archangel in Russia earlier this month to undertake natural icing trials. The aircraft flew on a series of flights between Archangel and Naryan-Mar, Russia, searching for icing conditions at altitudes between 5,000ft and 23,600ft (1,500m and 7,200m). The 3h 45min positioning flight to Archangel was the 66th flown by the first of two An-148 prototypes, and the 70-seat regional jet is due for certification in March next year.
