Not wanting to be left behind among the Russian and Ukrainian aircraft designers working on reg-ional jet projects, Antonov is revealing more details of its AN-148 family at the show.
Although it has the same fuselage cross-section as the AN-74TK-300 jet, the AN-148 is longer and has newly-designed wings for improved range and performance.
It will be powered by variants of the Russian-built JSC Perm Motors D-36-5A engine developed for the AN-74, but will feature a variety of western systems, says Antonov spokesman Viacheslav Trofimov.
Several CIS carriers including Aeroflot and Sibir Airlines have signed protocols for up to 180 AN-148s.
