Air New Zealand (ANZ) has posted a 7% fall in passenger traffic in January, largely due to a decline in the international segment.
Total RPKs for January fell 7% from a year ago, says the airline. The total number of passengers carried decreased 2% to 939,000.
Short-haul RPKs, referring to domestic, Australia and Pacific Islands traffic, fell 3%.
Long-haul RPKs declined 10%, says ANZ. Its long-haul segment includes flights to Asia, North America and Europe.
Overall capacity, measured in ASKs, was cut 10%, adds ANZ. The passenger load factor grew 2.6 percentage points to 86% from 83.4% as a result.
