Aviation Partners Boeing (APB) is preparing to appoint the maintenance unit of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) as a winglet modification centre, and Malaysian manufacturer Asian Composite Manufacturing (ACM) as a winglet supplier.

An MAS source says the carrier is finalising a contract with APB to establish Asia's first winglet modification centre. APB plans to contract ACM to supply winglets for installation by MAS.

ACM, jointly owned by Boeing, Hexcel and two Malaysian companies, supplies Boeing with wing panels for several models. Industry sources say the Kedah-based manufacturer is bidding to become a second supplier of APB winglets
