Jose David Cabello is the new president of Venezuela’s state-owned Conviasa. He replaces tourism minister Wilmer Castro. Cabello is vice-minister of infrastructure and president of the institute that controls Caracas airport.
David Siegel, former head of US Airways and now chairman and chief executive of GateGourmet, has joined the board of directors of G2 SwitchWorks, which is developing alternatives to the Global Distribution Systems.
Australian low-cost carrier Virgin Blue has a new chairman, Mark Rowsthorn, following the purchase of owner Patrick Corp by Toll Holdings. An executive director with Toll, he replaces Chris Corrigan.
Lee Shave has been appointed vice-president marketing and sales for Gulf Air. He was previously global commercial director with the STA Travel Group.
United Airlines has promoted Scott Dolan to lead its consolidated airport operations and cargo divisions. He is currently senior vice-president of airport operations and cargo.
