Arabsat wants Measat’s satellites as it seeks to expand

Industry sources have indicated that the pan-Arabic regional satellite operator Arabsat is currently in discussions with the Malaysian telecommunications firm Measat for the acquisition of Measat’s satellite fleet. While Arabsat has a strong regional presence across the Middle East it wishes to expand into the Far East. Other satellite firms are also said to be interested in acquiring the Measat satellite operating business and its orbital slots in Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO).
