Arianespace plans to set up a finance company to help fund future telecommunications satellite launches. The company says that talks are being held with its European aerospace partners and a consortium of banks, with the aim of establishing the new financing arm as a joint venture early in 1996.

Credits of around $30-50 million will be offered against launch costs, which average around $100-120 million. Arianespace was prompted to set up the financing arm by the growing volume of business from commercial customers.
