Russian airworthiness authority ARMAK has approved the full-scale production of PowerJet SaM146 engines.
Snecma's joint venture partner, NPO Saturn, says this followed extensive certification work together with ARMAK to adapt regulatory requirements to the SaM146 specifics.
SaM146 programme director Yuri Basyuk says the certification complements a previous approval for the assembly of 10 engines and clears the way for their serial manufacture at Saturn's facility in Rybinsk over the next two years.
He adds: "Our main task now is to step up the output and ensure engine delivery to equip Sukhoi Superjet 100s as agreed with the airframer."
