The first test launch of the Arrow 2 operational version of the Israeli anti-tactical ballistic missile has been scheduled for June. The two-stage missile will not intercept any target.
To date test launches of the Israel Aircraft Industries-developed missile have been made with the single-stage Arrow 1.
The Arrow 2, with booster and sustainer sections, is the operational version. Ground tests include five hot-ejections from the operational canister, being used.
The June firing will be followed by five launches, including four involving target intercepts.
The Arrow 2 is 7m long. Each missile will be stored in a sealed canister, the operational launcher carrying six canisters.
The phased-array detection and fire control radar developed for the Arrow system will be partially integrated in the upcoming test launch.
