Delta Connection operator Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) expects to complete re-inspections of GE CF34 engines on 60 Bombardier CRJ200s by mid-day 2 April after voluntarily grounding the aircraft on 31 March.

The groundings resulted from concerns raised during an internal audit, and ASA self-disclosed those issues to FAA, a carrier spokeswoman explains.

ASA is re-inspecting the engines to ensure compliance with GE's maintenance recommendations. GE explains the issue involved guidelines in the CF34 service manual to complete a boroscope inspection of the high-pressure compressor at certain intervals.

ASA's spokeswoman says the carrier is working with Delta reservations representatives to accommodate passengers. Other Delta Connection partners have also stepped in to add flights to minimize disruptions.
