Raytheon has completed first phase testing of the Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar System-2 (ASARS-2) for the US Air Force's Lockheed U-2 reconnaissance aircraft. Data collected indicates that contrast ratio, impulse response width, and peak sidelobes meet or are better than specification, the company says. The product improvement integrates the ASARS-2's electronic scanning antenna, transmitter and low voltage power supply, with a new receiver/exciter/controller and onboard processor.
