Small capsules containing the cremated remains of space pioneers are due to be ejected into orbit as part of the mission of the Orbital Sciences Pegasus XL launcher, which will launch Spain's Minisat in September. The remains, including those of space physicist Gerard O'Neill, Todd Hawley, the founder of the International Space University, and individuals who worked on the German V2 rocket and NASA Apollo programmes, will eventually burn up in the atmosphere. The US-based Celestis company involved has been attempting to market such a service for over ten years.
