HAN SUNG NO LONGER

South Korea's Han Sung Airlines has suspended operations as a result of financial difficulty. The carrier, which operated ATR 72s, suspended operations in mid-October. It blamed high oil prices, a drop in the value of the local currency unit and troubles in the international banking sector. It is looking for new investors in the hope that operations can be resumed within 60 days.


FLYINGTON DELAYS LAUNCH

Planned new Indian cargo carrier Flyington Freighters is deferring its launch to next year. Flyington has been preparing for launch for some time and was due to start operating this year. It says it now plans to start operating at an unspecified date in 2009 using leased Airbus A300-600 freighters. It plans to later add A330 freighters and has 12 of the type on order with Airbus.


JETSTAR TO AUCKLAND

Qantas Airways subsidiary Jetstar will serve New Zealand's largest city, Auckland, from both the Gold Coast and Sydney from 28 April using Airbus A320s. It already serves New Zealand with 28 weekly flights to Christchurch from Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney. It is also considering launching domestic services within New Zealand.


ETIHAD/SRILANKAN EXTEND CODESHARE

Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways and SriLankan Airlines have expanded their codeshare agreement to cover seven more routes. SriLankan is now codesharing on Etihad-operated flights from Abu Dhabi to Amman, Brussels, Dublin, Geneva and Manchester.
