Special tents which have been used at the Olympic Games and the MTV European Music Awards will be set up at Asian Aerospace '98 in Singapore.

The tents are supplied by Dutch company De Boer, in a $1-million deal with show organiser Asian Aerospace Pte Ltd

They feature rigid side-wall panels for additional security, and a suspended non-slip timber floor system which allows utility services to run underneath.

The Euro Pavilion structures, with pagoda-style design, are bigger than the previous structures erected at the Singapore show site.

As a result only three, instead of the previous four, will be needed to house exhibitors in the tents, which supplement the main permanent exhibition halls at Asian Aerospace.

Jimmy Lau, managing director of Asian Aerospace and president of Reed Exhibitions Singapore, says: "Asian Aerospace is the third-largest aerospace event in the world and the use of these tent structures is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the show."

More than 800 companies have booked their places at Asian Aerospace, which will be held at the Changi Exhibition Centre in Singapore from 24 February to 1 March 1998.
