Northern Italy’s Bergamo airport is subject to disruption after a runway excursion accident involving a Boeing 737-400 freighter.
Images from the scene indicate the ASL Airlines aircraft came to rest next to a road after apparently striking the crash barrier.
The Italian civil aviation regulator ENAC says the accident occurred at 04:00. Neither of the two pilots, the only occupants, was injured.
Meteorological data from Bergamo, near Milan, indicates rain and gusting winds, and the presence of thunderstorms in the area.
Newly-issued Bergamo NOTAMs state that the instrument landing system for runway 28 is out of action, possibly as a result of the accident.
Italian air accident investigation authority ANSV has been informed, according to ENAC.
