Astronauts are landing in Le Bourget with a special mission brief - to lure aerospace, aviation and hi-tech businesses into the 'future-oriented, rapid growth environment' of Texas. NASA astronauts from the Apollo, Skylab and Space Shuttle programmes are greeting visitors to the USA National Pavilion (Hall 1/C18) and demonstrating why Clear Lake, Texas, is the ideal location for businesses and families that are looking to the future.
"I don't think the Paris airshow has ever seen anything quite like this," says Jim Reinhartsen, head of the Clear Lake-Houston, Texas Consortium.
"We are a highly diverse consortium of public and private interests, working together to market a product - but it's not an aeroplane or aerospace engineering services. It's the quality of life, robust business environment, accessibility and diversity that makes Clear Lake, Texas the ideal place for aerospace and hi-tech business.
