Recovery teams at the site of the MetroJet Airbus A321 crash in northern Sinai have retrieved at least one flight recorder from the wreckage.
The Egyptian cabinet states that a recorder “has been retrieved” from the tail section of the twinjet.
It has not clarified whether the cockpit-voice or flight-data recorder has been found.
The cabinet says it will be transferred for download and transcription by civil aviation specialists, although it has not specified which authority will handle this part of the inquiry.
Search efforts have focused on a region some 8km in diameter, the cabinet says. The aircraft came down on 31 October with no survivors among the 224 occupants.
