Speed is the forte of the Cessna Citation X business jet and Cessna chairman Russ Meyer took advantage of that to get to Paris.

Meyer flew the X from Cessna's home-base in Wichita, Kansas, to Paris with a fuel stop in Newfoundland. The first leg took just 3h 30min, the second 4h. "And that was in pretty terrible weather," says Meyer. "This is just a phenomenal airplane."

On Sunday, Cessna announced a new order from US-based Executive Jet that includes Xs, Citation Excels and Citation VIIs for the company's NetJets fractional ownership scheme.

Meyer, who likes to take the left-hand seat whenever he travels, says the 23rd X has been delivered and the company expects to have produced almost 40 aircraft by the end of the year. Customers include General Motors and Honeywell.

The X, powered by Allison AE 3007Cs, is the world's fastest business jet, capable of speeds up to M0.92.

In May it established a speed record when it flew coast to coast in the US, from Washington DC to Seattle, in 3h 35min.
