Italian component manufacturer ATR Group is setting up an aerospace subsidiary, ATR Aeronautics. The subsidiary will specialise in the production of composite materials. ATR Aeronautics "is destined in future to represent one of the fundamental pillars of the group's core business", ATR Group says.
ATR already has agreements in place to supply composite products for Alcatel and Aermacchi. ATR Group also signed an agreement with Anglo-Italian group AgustaWestland to supply the whole of the rear part of the fuselage on the NH90 helicopter.
ATR Group says the company will be working on the programme for the entire marketing period for the helicopter. Its involvement "confirms ATR Group's wish to become a key supplier in the aerospace market, a market which it knows well and which is becoming more and more important in the group's strategy".
The company's aerospace division is currently in talks to supply composite products to other companies in Italy and abroad.
