Arkia Israeli Airlines has put into service the first of three ATR 72-500s ordered last July. The private carrier will use the 72-seat aircraft to increase capacity on its high-frequency operations between Dov Hoz Tel Aviv Airport and Eilat, replacing ageing 50-seat de Havilland Dash 7s. The second and third ATR 72s will be delivered in February and March, and Arkia will consider options on four more this year.
